…As little Chidera goes to Church
Married couples have been advised to have faith in God who provides his riches in glory.
Rev. Fr. Christian Obioha gave this admonition during the dedication of little Miss Chidera Goodness Augustine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chika Aririatu at St. Joseph’s Parish Umualumaku on Sunday, July 19th, 2015.
In his homily at the Eucharist celebration, the Assistant Parish Priest reminded the parishioners about the sermon of the previous week which dwelt on people who work against the priests, disciples, the church and the laity.
According to him, the ordained priest deserves prayers from the congregation so as to surmount obstacles, challenges and pitfalls which has potency of undermining the ministry, because he is human.
He quoted John 15 verse 5 which stated that “there is no greater love that a man shall sacrifice himself so as to bring salvation to others”. He elucidated that the Catholic priest has sacrificed himself so as to win souls for Christ.
Fr. Obioha reminded the congregation that the two sons of Eli were priests who abused their vocation. According to him, the two sons of Eli died as punishment for abusing their priestly vocation and ordination. He warned that unless priests confess their sins as mortals, seek for the grace of God and pray, they will likewise perish like common sinners. He admonished the parishioners to constantly pray for the priests, Pope and Bishops.
The Leader spoke with Mr. Chika Aririatu, father of the dedicated girl, and he postulated that it took him six years after his wedding to beget the daughter. He thanked God for answering his prayers as people were making jest of him for not having a child.
According to him, he fought many battles and was badly scandalized and traumatized before God answered his prayers. He thanked God for the gift of little Chidera Goodness Augustine Aririatu.
