Suspected cultists have shot two brothers dead at the gate of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Lokoja, while another 32-year-old man was killed in his house in Ogaminana, near Okene in Kogi State by suspected gunmen.
The AUTHORITY learnt that one of the slain bothers, Ogu Achem, also known as Ogwu-Araka and his brother, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, came to visit their sick mother at the hospital when they were killed.
An eyewitness said the victims were leaving the hospital at about 8.30pm on July 13, when their car was blocked by another whose occupants thereby forced them out.
It was learnt that the occupants of the car, who were suspected to be members of a rival cult group, alerted and opened fire on the victims, making people in the area to flee.
The assailants allegedly fired several shots on the duo to be sure that they were dead.
The late Achem was a former Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters for Kogi East to the immediate past governor of the Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada.
In the second incident, 32-year-old Victor Sadiq was gunned down in his house at Zango Village, Ogaminana in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Family sources said that some suspected gunmen stormed his house at about 3am on July 13 and dragged him out for questioning before they killed him.
The State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. William Aya, said the murder of Ogwu Achem and his brother was being investigated. He however said that the case of Victor was yet to be established.
