Owere Age grade honours Oweaya
The Chinyere Ugo Age grade of Owere has conferred on Chief Dr. Christian Oweaya Anukam (Agbawodike Izu Owere) the prestigious award of Grand Patron. The group announced the choice of Chief Oweaya during a courtesy visit to him at his residence on Sunday October 16. They said it was in recognition of his numerous achievements and contribution to the Age grade and Owere people at large during his first tenure as President General of Owere Community Assembly OCA some years ago and now as the interim president General of the communities.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Oweaya thanked the group for honouring him when he is still alive even though he is not a member of the Age grade saying it will propel him to do more.” I will keep doing the ones that I can do, and I expect you to do the little you can do as no single individual can do everything,” he told the group.
He also thanked the representatives of Owere Communities Assembly present saying that without their support he would not have done so much in such a short period of time.
The Community leader pleaded for forgiveness from those he may have stepped on their toes noting that he is not perfect and called on them to forgive him so that they can come together and move Owere Communities forward.
He commended the President of the Age grade, Sir Ferdinand Emeanaa for leading the group in the right part and also assured the group that the OCA election will hold before the end of this year.
Speaking earlier, Sir Emeanaa showered praises on Chief Oweaya noting that since he returned as Interim President General he has been holding the communities together, bringing peace and decorum to Owere people and for that he deserves to be commended.
One of the representatives of Owere Communities Assembly, Arthur Ijegbula thanked the group for recognizing the efforts of their President General as according to him not every leader is recognized for his works in his life time. He stated that Chief Oweaya is a philanthropist who does not hesitate before he helps people and that God blesses him with wealth because he uses it to assist others. He prayed God to give him life, good health and also open more doors for him.
With their mouths full of praises, some of the Owere citizens present recalled how Chief Oweaya personally helped alleviate their sufferings and expressed their gratitude to him.
