St. Michael’s Parish Amakohia marks Year of Mercy …Visits Motherless babies home

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Ibole, the Parish Pastoral Council members and the parishioners of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Amakohia, on Monday, October 17, 2016, joined other Catholics to mark the special mission Sunday and Year of Mercy by paying a charity visit to the motherless babies home in Owerri. They donated various types of food items, such as cartons of Indomie, milk, drinks, detergents and cash.

Speaking at the occasion on behalf of the Parish Priest, the curate, Rev. Fr. Benedict Anyanwu, said they came in accordance with the directive to all parishes in the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri by His Grace, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna to visit destitute houses or motherless homes to mark the church’s Year of Mercy.

Fr. Anyanwu noted that the visit was also to exhibit practical love to the inmates of the motherless home adding that he will continue to sensitize God’s people on the need to help the less privileged.

The Parish Pastoral Council Chairman, Barr Sir Anthony Emeana commended the volunteers at the Imo state motherless babies home, Owerri for taking good care of the children and urged them not to relent in their good work.

In her response, Mrs. Udoka Aladu, who spoke on behalf of the matron, Lady Cecilia Okere, who was unavoidably absent, appreciated their benefactors for their visit and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon them.
