Mission Week activities ends today
Activities marking the Mission Week in Owerri Archdiocese end today October 23 with Mission Sunday collection in all parishes in Owerri Archdiocese, for evangelization and pastoral projects.
The Mission Sunday theme is: “Animating Our Mercy Mission Week.”
The week-long activities which began on Sunday October 16 included, lectures, special mercy outreach to some physically and mentally challenged homes, the destitute and the needy in the Archdiocese and parishes.
Other programmes for the week were, Forgiving and Reconciling one another in families; Reconciling and healing members of the parish (drawn from stations, associations, groups or sodalities).
At the Archdiocesan level, the programme featured Archdiocesan Communion Reconciliation and Mission. The faithful gathered at the Eucharistic Congress Arena on Friday, October 21, the 24th Anniversary of the 2nd Eucharistic Congress which gave them opportunity to re- experience communion with one another as a local and universal Church.
A release from the Catholic Secretariat Owerri, appealed to the faithful to support the world-wide mission of the Holy Father and approach the World Mission Sunday with a spirit of generosity for the on-going work of evangelization and the several pastoral projects entailed.
Our reporter said the occasion was used to pray specially for missionaries, evangelizers and catechizers all over the world.
