Archbishop Obinna commends Knights of St. Mulumba …As Sir & Lady Anthony Onuh celebrate 40th anniversary of wedding

The Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri has showered praises on the Knights of St. Mulumba Nigeria, for their support to the Church.

Preaching during the 40th wedding anniversary of the Supreme Knight, Sir Anthony Onuh and his wife, Eunice, held at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri, October 22, Archbishop Obinna noted that the Order of KSM is made up of people who want to build up the Church.

“I have seen your works; I have seen your encouragement and if nothing else, the Chapel of Veritas University Abuja, which you built. I have seen also your contributions in Owerri Archdiocese and elsewhere”.

The prelate, who was once a chaplain of KSM Sub-Council in Owerri, added that he was happy to be associated with the Supreme Knight and his wife and the Order of KSM.

Making reference to the readings, Archbishop Obinna said we were in the Cathedral not just because we wanted to celebrate with the Onuh family but also because someone extra-ordinary, descended from heaven down to earth in order to free us from captivity of sin.

“We are all captives of sin but God does not want us to remain in the captivity of evil and brutality, so He sent His son who descended to the hell of our captivity to set us free”.

He appreciated the beautiful regalia of the knights and ladies but he noted that wearing of attractive uniforms merely pleases the eye, adding that God looks at our interior decorations and not our external wears. The prelate therefore expressed the need for the external decorations to correspond with the interior decorations, adding that God wants us to use every part of our being to glorify Him.

Congratulating Chief Onuh and his wife Eunice on the 40th anniversary of their marriage, Archbishop Obinna described the couple “as a loving united couple breathing with one lung”.

The Archbishop observed that Chief Onuh as Deputy Supreme Knight and later as Worthy Supreme Knight, had shown a very special commitment to the projects of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.

He said the landmark peak of his service was the Catholic Chapel of Veritas University, Abuja, (the Catholic University of Nigeria) adding that “We cannot thank the knights of St. Mulumba for this holy-star edifice without thanking Chief Onuh specially”.

He prayed God to give Sir & Lady Onuh, more graces to oil and sustain their married life and also grant the Supreme Knight the grace of continued zeal to serve Him and His Church in other capacities.

High point of the thanksgiving Mass was the renewal of Marriage Vows by the couple.

After the Mass, the couple, guests and well-wishers relocated to the Obiri Odenigbo Pavilion within the Cathedral, for reception.

The impressive ceremony was presided over by Bro & Sis John Agbasi (KSM) Worthy Grand Knight, Aba Sub-Council. The highlights here included, cutting of anniversary cake, anniversary dance by the couple and multiple appreciations by the Supreme Executive Board of KSM, the Metropolitan councils, Sub-Councils and various groups from Aba, Onitsha and Uzoagba etc.

Responding, the Supreme Knight expressed gratitude to all who shared the moment with his family. He said he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of goodwill by the KSM, friends and well-wishers.
