Harvest: Archbishop Obinna commends Assumpta parishioners
The Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Oweri has commended the Catholic community of Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri for making contributions to support the work of God despite the economic recession.
The Archbishop made the commendation during the Harvest Thanksgiving Mass of the parish held Sunday November 6, tagged, “Harvest of God’s Mercy”.
He expressed satisfaction with the theme, saying Harvest of God’s mercy was an encouragement that with the mercy of God, we can ascend instead of going from recession to depression and desperation.
“So, whatever way God encourages you, do it as a way of appreciating God’s mercy in our lives,” the Archbishop said.
The prelate however reminded Christians that the primary harvest was to come out from life of sin and live life of holiness, thus getting our soul ready for heavenly harvest.
“Don’t waste further time. Whatever amendments you want to do, do it now for death can come at any moment” he warned.
He observed that freedom in the world today was a major distraction from the divine orientation, which makes us sometimes forget that there is death, such freedom encourages us to do all kinds of evil, like killing, fornication, kidnapping, robbery etc.
“Many like this type of freedom, but no matter how tantalizing this world is, don’t boast of it. Death is a reality. It helps you to address your life”.
