Similarly Fr. Peter Anyanwu the Sub-council Chaplain said the act was Charity at its best and a wake-up call on the Government to rise up to its social responsibility to its subjects, especially addressing the housing needs of the citizenship, devoid of undue media propaganda.
Owerri metro LSM Treasurer Lady Apolonia Nzerem and Lady Maria Uzoma (National) provost) were present on the occasion Chaired by Chief Sir Livinus Ezeala, among many other dignitaries.
Presenting the keys to the LSM National President for Onward handing-over to the lucky widow, Dr Lady Ewurum virtually drew tears from the eyes of the congregation when she recalled that the recipient lost her husband when she was 20 years old, and had since then been confronted with untold accommodation challenges until she was spotted by the watchful eyes of the LSM working committee in her community which recommended her as beneficiary of the phase two of the LSM project tagged, “Lending to the Lord” Provs 19:17. The first, she revealed, went to one Mrs. Christiana Dike in July 2015 who is a widow from Amaraku Isiala Mbano. The LSM president acknowledged the generosity of their benefactors, the support of the LSM National president and the invaluable co-operation of the entire membership of the order, Ugiri sub-council. She admonished the beneficiary to rededicate herself to God in appreciation of this unmerited favour.
Bro Val. C. Oleru GK Ugiri; had earlier in his address welcomed all guest and restated the support of the brotherhood to LSM projects. He remarked that mercy had started bearing fruits in line with the manifestation of the Year of Mercy follow-up declared by the pope, and explained that the occasion was not for chest-beating, but meant to serve as good conduct worthy of emulation.
Reacting, Dame Nwachukwu reiterated her passion for assisting the widow and solicited support for the worthy cause. She lauded the administrative dexterity of Lady Dr. Ewurum and the team spirit of the KSM and urged them to go for more gold.
Where asked to comment, the recipient Mrs. Ijezie was short of words to express her deep joy, but managed to say amidst tears, “Thank you Jesus for using the LSM to revamp my life” and prayed at length for her benefactors.
