Mass wedding: New covenant begets new life – Priest tells 17 newly wedded at Orji

Those about to embrace the sacrament of Holy Matrimony have been informed that the sacrament they come to receive was a new covenant they were establishing with God. Just as they were told that the covenant would indeed usher them into another realm of life.

Rev. Fr. Bertrand Nnajiemere, Assistant Parish Priest Immaculate Heart Catholic Parish Orji Uratta Owerri North LGA made the submission during a homily he delivered when 17 couples were joined together in a Holy Matrimony, Saturday December 3.

Fr. Bertrand who reflected on the scriptural Book of Jeremiah said the sacrament “is a new dawn, and therefore shall offer them with a new beginning”.

He advised them to embrace their new status with care and cautious, adding that a successful marriage was one carried out with love, endurance and tolerance.

Speaking further on the need for couples to manage well their differences, the priest who joined Frs. Malachy Ukonu of St. Peterclever Minor Seminary Okpala, Kevin Ohaleta of Okigwe Diocese and Nnaemeka Jezie in the concelebrated Eucharistic celebration noted that marriage is not a contract, but a life union that remains till death.

Shortly after the wedding Mass, the ceremony shifted to the reception hall where the parish wing of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (CCRN) who organized the event entertained guests with spiritual and social exercises.
