Catholic Doctors warn Gov Okorocha on Workers’ wages and pensions
In recent exchanges directed at His Grace AJV Obinna, Governor Rochas Okorocha has demonstrated total disrespect and ignorance of what the Holy Catholic Church stands for. We will refer him to the Bible passage in James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
His Grace AJV Obinna has demonstrated exemplary defence of the weak and defenceless in our society born out of misrule, corruption and poor governance. We the Church militants stand very firmly behind His Grace AJV Obinna in support of his apostolic mission. We will emphatically confront the government of Imo State under Governor Okorocha if they carry out their current plans to defraud pensioners, teachers and other workers of their hard earned wages and pensions. Wages and pensions of workers are entitlements under natural law, religious law:
Leviticus 19:13 “You shall not oppress your neighbour or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning”.
And common law as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will defend the rights of the worker and pensioner under all extant labour laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
