Eze Francis Tobechi Obute builds Civic Hall for Umuihim Community …..As Fr. Tony Dieme harps on charity
Rev. Fr. Anthony Dieme, Parish Priest, St. Joseph Catholic Church Umualumaku, Ehime Mbano L.G.A, celebrated the Holy Eucharist on Saturday December 24′ 2016 during the dedication of an Ultra Modern Civic Hall solely built and donated to Umualumaku/Umuihim Community by His Royal Highness Eze Francis Tobechi Obute (Ohazurumee II).
In his homily, Fr. Dieme gave thanks to God for his gift of Eze Francis Obute who sacrificed his resources this austere time to solely procure land and effect the construction of the ultra modern edifice at Umunka for the use of natives for both religious and socio-cultural activities.
He paid glowing encomium on the young traditional ruler for conceptualizing the project and ensuring its construction with high quality materials and executing it in a record time. Fr. Dieme prayed God to accelerate the development of the community and continue to bless the donor who spent colossal sum in the construction of the Civil Hall which has all the trappings of modern technology viz: tiles, synthetic ceiling, quality design, painting, fans, lighting and strong burglary protectors which make the civic centre radiate splendour, look attractive and appealing.
The homilist made reference to the supreme sacrifice of Christ at the Cross in Calvary which heralded salvation for mankind. He harped on the need to selfless sacrifices, charity, philanthropy that reduce burden from people and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged members of the society. According to him, some affluent members of the society find it very difficult to give out without strings attached, while others accumulate wealth and store much money in the banks which serve no purpose even when their neighbours wallow in abject poverty, penury and deprivations. The Priest extolled the virtue of charity, philanthropy, generosity and selflessness.
He went biblical quoting Matthew Chapter 5 VS 16 which says “Let thy light so shine before men that they will see thy good works and give glory to thy father who is in heaven”. He urged the donor of the new Civic Hall to continue in his good works. He admonished the well to do to bring innovations and join hands to so as fast track development and make the community a better place. The Priest thereafter blessed and sprinkled Holy water around the new hail and blessed the congregation.
The Leader spoke to Eze Francis Tobechi Obute, moments after he donated bags of rice, cartons of tomatoe paste and two cows to the community to felicitate with them during the yuletide. According to him, his gestures were meant to appreciate the members of the community for their support and having unflinching faith in him as their Traditional Ruler and his effort to put smiles on their faces and dine and wine with his subjects. Earlier in the mass, Prince Ugochukwu Obute informed the congregation that natives had hitherto suffered greatly contributing money for a hall that could not be realized over a long period of time.
Dignitaries present at the event included: Chief Noble Amah, Chief B.U Osunwa, Deaconess Angela Njoku, Chief Collins Chukwu, Barr Emeka Owuamalam, Prince Ugochukwu Obute, Jonas Onwuegbuchu, Ugoeze Obute, Chief Paul Obasi, Chief Tobias Ezeji, Nze Joseph Anunobi, Chief Nicholas Iwuagwu, President General and Chief Benji Chibundu among others.
