Principals, heart-beat of education – Sir Ogu … As Nze Amaku hands over to new ANCOPSS exco
Nze Godwin Amaku, the immediate past president of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Imo State branch handed over the mantle of leadership, assets and liabilities of the confederation to the new executive of the organization led by Bro. Cyprain Ogu (KSM) on Tuesday January 31, 2017.
In his valedictory speech, prelude to the handover of assets and liabilities to the new executive. The former president did an appraisal of the leadership of ANCOPSS under his leadership, evaluating the performance of the executives; he appreciated the scribe, comrade A. E. Uzonu for working assiduously and going extra mile in ensuring the success story of the confederation during his 4years tenure.
Nze Amaku expressed profound gratitude to the executive members for keeping faith and providing diligent services which helped him achieve giant strides. He advised the zonal leaders to encourage others to assume leadership responsibilities to avoid monopoly of power.
In his contribution, Sir Obinna Egbuchulam, Principal, Owerri City School spoke eloquently and favourably about the immediate past regime under Nze Godwin Amaku. He paid glowing encomium on the leadership quality of the former president and members of his executive.
He extolled the virtue of accountability and team spirit of Nze Amaku and praised him for carrying all the members of the steering committee along through thick and thin.
In his remarks, Comrade Patrick Amakiri advised the new regime to improve on the legacies of Nze Godwin Amaku who has brought honour and dignity to principals.
In her reaction, Lady Ogechi Owuamanam, eulogized the former president for his resilience, team spirit and unprecedented achievements. The new state Secretary, Damian Iwuagwu, expressed appreciation to the immediate past state executive for being proactive and ensuring proper account of their stewardship.
Comrade Gabriel Nwogu, the former treasurer of ANCOPSS advised the new leadership to work harmoniously as a team. He eulogized the former president for his managerial acumen, equanimity and rich administrative sagacity. In her brief remarks, Mrs. Clara Onumonu extolled the executive for being proactive in ensuring prompt remittance of dues to their national secretariat.
In his response, Sir. Cyprain Ogu (KSM), the new president promised to improve on the achievements and legacies of the immediate past leadership. He affirmed his desire to be a team player, innovative and ready to implement the policies, regulations and decisions of government in the overall interest of advancement of education in the state. He described principals of secondary schools as the heart-beat of education in the state and Nigeria at large. He promised to procure additional vehicles so that all the six zones get a bus each. He further promised to pay up outstanding indebtedness to members of the past executive.
The quadrennial congress of the Imo State. branch of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools which was held on Friday 20th January 2017 at the Teachers House Owerri saw the emergence of Sir, Cyprian Ogu (KSM) as the new State president of the confederation.
