All roads, Sunday, February 11, 2018, led to the ancient city of Awaka, in the Owerri North LGA of Imo State, where the family of the Imo State Chief Judge, Hon Justice Paschal Nnadi and their friends turned out in their numbers to celebrate the promotion of their wife, Ine Nnadi (Ph.D) to the prestigious rank of Professor of Law.
The promotion of the erudite scholar, who teaches law at the Imo State University, took effect from 2015. The thanksgiving Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Dr. George Nwachukwu, who represented His Grace, the Most Rev. Anthony J.V. Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, was held at the Holy Trinity Church Awaka. The concelebrating priests are: Rev. Frs. Cornelous Ajaegbu (Parish Priest) Paschal Ago, Ndieze, Desmond Anukanti, Kojo and Jude Ifeanyi Duruaku C.S.Sp, who preached the homily.
The occasion attracted eminent personalities including top government functionaries, the political class, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, wife of the Imo State Governor was there and so were the Chief Justice of the Federation, represented by Hon Justice CC Nwaeze of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Minister of Education (State) Prof Anthony Anwukah, Imo Chief Judge, Hon Justice Paschal Nnadi (the chief host), former Chief Judge of the state, Hon Justice Paul C. Onumajulu, former Attorneys General and Commissioners for Justice, Justice Jude Nnodum, Machukwu Ume and Ken Njemanze as well as Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) including Barr Livy Uzoukwu Chukwuma Ekomaru and Sir Ndukwe Nnawuchi, Hon Justices Ngozi Ukoha and Nwosu Iheme were there. The Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, was accompanied by the President of Ebonyi Customary Court of Appeal and so were his counterparts of Delta, Enugu and Rivers. The Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, Pro Chancellor, Prince Alex Mbata, the Governing Council and Senate. The Bayelsa Chief Judge was represented by Hon Justice Doris Adokeme, while Brig-Gen Tonye led Hon Justice Paschal Nnadi’s in-laws from Rivers State, where his wife hails from.
Present also Prof. Jude Njoku, former Vice Chancellor Federal University Owerri (FUTO), Chief Nnamdi Anyachie, chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and HRH Eze Lucky Ajoku, Traditional Ruler of the Ihiagwa Autonomous Community,
Preaching the homily, Fr. Duruaku called Christ faithful to embibe the virtue of humility, without which it is impossible to receive favours from God. He drew a lesson from the gospel reading of the day, where a leper prostrated before Jesus telling him that if he wills, he has the power to make him clean. Fr. Duruake praised Prof. Nnadi for her faith in God, as exhibited during challenging moments in her life, describing her as a professor of prayer and kindness.

Both the Chief Judge of Imo State and his wife in their speeches narrated how the mercy of God had sustained their lives, especially in blessing them with two lovely sons after 12 years of childless marriage. They expressed immense gratitude to their guests.
Prof. (Mrs.) Nnadi in addition to other support from the Nnadi family to the parish, pledged to donate her one month salary also.
The representative of the Archbishop, Fr. George Nwachukwu, commended the Nnadi family for their exemplary Christian life and urged them to keep it up. He conveyed to the congregation the Archbishop’s message to ensure that eligible voters do what they are expected to do by registering and collecting their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
Guests were later entertained at Justice Nnadi’s Compound after Mass.
