2019: APGA is the party to beat in Imo – Ike C. Ibe

Former speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ike C. Ibe has said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is the party to beat in the state, come 2019.

Hon. Ibe, a governorship aspirant, said the increasing number of politicians decamping from both the ruling party and other political parties to APGA was a clear indication that Imo people have lost confidence in APC and PDP. At the last count, APGA has 15 governorship aspirants.

The Obowo-born politician, who stated this during a media chat in Owerri condemned in strong terms NEPOTISM which he alleged is the bane of current administration in the state.

The Founder/Executive Director of Nancy and Jennifer Ibe Center for Public Accountability expressed optimism that if he eventually emerges the APGA governorship candidate, he will go all the way to becoming the next governor of Imo State in 2019.

He decried the high debt profile of Imo State and the prevailing economic hardship. He said “Because of this situation in our state anybody taking over governance of Imo State in 2019 is going to have it very rough.”
However, “for anybody to succeed, you must be a leader, an architect of development, someone who knows what it takes to re-tune the economy and the ability to create resources without unduly taxing the people,” he said.

He appealed to his fellow aspirants not to see the governorship of Imo State as a do or die affair or a matter of life and death. He believed that the Holy Spirit will guide the party in choosing the best candidate for 2019.
