The Ihitte/Uboma Local Govt Council Headquarters Isinweke turned a beehive of activities, 19th and 20th February.
2018 as it received its fair share of the free poultry Management Training (PMT) Programme for Okigwe zone organized by Maco Feeds Company with the view to alleviating rural poverty, enhancing the income scope of the working class, providing meaningful means of livelihood for the unemployed, and providing soft-landing for the retirees.
The free programme drew a large crowd of enthusiastic trainees from among the council work force, indigenes of the Local Government Area, contiguous communities, private sector operatives etc.
Declaring the workshop open the Transition Committee chairman Ihitte/Uboma LGA, Barr Bright Ononoze, represented by the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) Mrs. Chioma Mercy Okeke, extolled the patriotic zeal of the organizers and Chief Executive of Maco Feeds Company Ltd, Mr. Adindu Steve Ogamba, the program facilitator Pastor Charles Emesowum and the chief resource person and renowned Agric expert Prof. J.M. Olomu, FNSP, of the University of Benin. He expressed optimism that the gains of the training programme would provide a new economic vista for participants. The HPM was accompanied by Comr Anthony Nwachukwu LG NULGE Chairman and Hon Nwachukwu Gideon, Pastor Charles Emesowum etc.
In his intervention, the Isisala-Mbano born Chief Executive of the Port-Harcourt based feeds production outfit said he was moved by the backsliding of the South East in Commerce and Industry and urged them to wake up to the present day reality that the West and North have overtaken them, as they now live in past glory. He revealed that his product, Maco Feeds is an improvement over already existing products and canvassed for distributors in the South East. He observed that Ihitte/Uboma has the highest number of viable farmers in Imo State and urged them to inculcate and utilize the rich gains of the training, and encouraged those already in poultry business to use Maco Feeds for better results.
The resource person, Prof J.M. Olomu (Prof of Animal Nutrition) taught participants how to start and manage a profitable poultry business, detect poultry diseases and use best quality feeds among other details.
The program facilitator Pastor Charles Emesowum (MD Charles Agro Farms) on behalf of the participants expressed gratitude to the organizers, while the LG NULGE chairman, Comr. Anthony Nwachukwu thanked all who made the programme a reality.
