Nze Christopher Iwuanyanwu was among the select few bestowed with Ezinna award at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Umuezeala Owerre, Ehime-Mbano LGA on Sunday February 25, 2018.
The Leader spoke with Nze Jude Iwuanyanwu, one of the sons of the Ezinna Awardee on the implication of the Ezinna status and what it portends to him and their family.
According to him, over the years, his father has worked devotedly and assiduously as a Church Warden who took his religious services seriously. He observed that his father is very strict about attendance of members of his household to Mass on Sundays.
He disclosed that any of his household who fails to attend Mass on Sunday is denied food for the day as a physical punishment for shunning spiritual food. Nze Jude extolled his father for enforcing discipline and strictness in ensuring that all his children participate in all church activities, including: attendance to confessions, benediction, block rosary, manual labour and every other church activity that helps them grow spiritually. He ensures that himself as the head of the family, his wife and children toe right Christian path in their social, communal, political and marital affairs.
In her remarks, Mrs. Eucharia Onyeneze, first daughter of the Ezinna award recipient postulated that her father was a faithful Christian and selfless man who cared for others. She observed that her father Nze Christopher, replicates in deed and action his patron saint “St. Christopher” who is always worried about what to do to please Christ. According to her, her father taught them Christian values and the need to live their lives for Christ.
She observed that the bestowed Ezinna title on him, becomes a tonic that will motivate him to do more.
She described the honour as meritorious. The Ezinna award recipient is blessed with nine children including Eucharia Onyeneze, Mrs. Margret Nwachukwu, Mrs. Nkechinyere Ononuju, Mrs. Caroline Iwu, Mr. Jude Iwuanyanwu, Mr. Okechukwu Iwuanyanwu, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Iwuanyanwu, Miss Nkeiruka Iwuanyanwu and numerous grand children and great grand-children.
