The Catholic Women Organization (CWO) of Stella Maris Parish Orodo joined their counterparts in Nigeria to celebrate this year’s Mother’s Day. The occasion started with Mass, presided over by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ernest Muforo.
In his introductory rmarks, Fr. Muforo congratulated the mothers for their unprecedented number adding that they look beautiful in their CWO uniform. He also wished them God’s guidance and protection as they celebrated their day.
Delivering the homily, the parish priest maintained that the purpose of the celebration was to thank God specially for the gift of motherhood of which the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is their role model, is our focus.
He said that we have two celebrations for the day. While one is the reflection on Divine Sunday, the other is a thanksgiving to God for the gift of our mothers.
Today, he said, we are happy because Christ has taken charge of our offences and that is why he said that when He is lifted up, He will draw souls to himself.
Fr. Muforo advised women to guide their tongues and utterances always, because the tongue could be both an instrument of peace as well as weapon of destruction. He encouraged them to be in Christ because from sin we sink into nothingness. He advised the mothers to imitate the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary and seek God through her intercession. He told them not to be indifferent in their children’s bad behaviours and to be virtous and faithful mothers to the church and their families.
Fr. Muforo called on fellow parishioners to pray with the mothers for the gift of wisdom, understanding, obedience to the voice of the church as well as cooperation to move the parish forward.
In a chat with The Leader, the CWO President, Mrs. Chinonye Ukoma expressed her profound gratitude to God for the success of the occasion. She thanked in a special way the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ernest Muforo, the awardees, HRH Eze Agunwa Ohiri – Eze Imo, and the organizing committee of the occasion for their collaborative efforts and concern towards the occasion.
