St. Benignus Parish celebrates Father’s Day



The C.M.O day celebration 2018 was marked with funfair at St. Benignus Parish Ihite Isi Mberi, May 6, 2018.

The 3-day event started on Friday May 4th with confession and a retreat on the role of Christian fathers in the family, moderated by Rev. Fr. Chibueze Opara. Fr. Opara admonished Christian fathers to always protect their families from hunger, danger, external influence, diseases and illness and above all to bring their family closer to God.

The second day featured march past by all the C.M.O groups in the parish and a football match between St. Johnbosco C.M.O and S.S. Peter and Paul C.M.O group.

The match ended in 1-0 in favour of St. Johnbosco C.M.O.

The celebration was rounded off with a thanksgiving Mass on Sunday 6th May. Delivering his homily in the Mass, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Ekwugha reminded  Christian fathers that God chose and commissioned them to bear fruits that will last.

After the Mass, activities shifted to the Parish hall where the president of C.M.O Sir. Lambert Nwaka thanked God for a successful celebration. He thanked the C.M.O groups for their active participation and pledged that henceforth it is forward ever. He praised the organizing committee headed by the Vice President, Mr. Emma Nwagwu for an impressive celebration.

Sir Reginald Iwuoha, Parish Council chairman, presented Certificate of participation to all the C.M.O groups and certificate of merit to S.S Peter and Paul C.M.O – over all best in march past, St. Johnbosco C.M.O winner of the football match.

Ezinna Charles Uwakwe KSM and Sir Ernest Nwosu KSM thanked God for a colorful celebration; they expressed joy and kudos to the organizing committee.
