…Msgr Eke enjoins fathers to be good ambassadors of Christ

It was a day of joy and thanksgiving, Sunday May 6, 2018 at St. Helen’s Cath. Church Irete, Owerri West L.G.A, as members of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of the parish joyfully joined their counterparts across the country in marking this year’s feast of their patron, Saint Joseph.

The event which began with a two day retreat, ended with high Mass celebrated by the parish priest, Monsignor Anthony Eke.

In his homily, Monsignor Eke enjoined Christian fathers to be good ambassadors of the church. While emphasizing on the need and importance of Christian fathers obeying God and offering selfless service to Him and the church, he commended them for their role and commitment in church activities.

He urged them to inculcate good qualities in their families and to be committed to the things of God as they are partner in God’s work.

He also enjoined fathers to love their wives and children as Christ loves the church. “I urge you to be faithful men in your families. Many of you are trying your best, denying yourselves a lot, by attending to church activities; don’t worry God is seeing you. Don’t be only Sunday church member, socialize with others. He observed that some don’t belong to any group or society why?

In his welcome address, Ahanonu Michael, the CMO President of St. Helen’s parish Irete, described the CMO day as a day of realizing and honouring the contributions and importance of Christian fathers in the family.

He appreciated the parish priest Monsignor Eke for the wonderful role he is playing in the development of the parish and his associate Fr. Peter Ndukuba and all the CMO members of the parish.

He stressed that despite the fact that the new executive came into office under three months ago, they have been able to achieve almost the goals set out for the year 2018. He pointed out that the CMO day of 2018 was remarkable as they celebrated fathers who with faith have done excellently well in uplifting and upholding the qualities of true Christian fathers in St. Helen’s parish.

Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Mike Igbomezie said “I have being witnessing CMO day and awards in this parish, but today’s own is different. I want to urge those who received award today, to always see themselves as members of this parish and to contribute their quota in the development of this parish, as we shall always bring them in the scheme of things.”

The 2018 CMO committee chairman Peter Ezeribe who thanked God for such a wonderful opportunity given to the CMO to celebrate this year’s day. He advised Christian fathers to be caring and be prayerful, having faith in God Almighty no matter the circumstances they see themselves. He thanked all CMO members for their support.

The highlight of the ceremony was award of recognition to some distinguished parishioners and some friends of the parish.
