Okada ban: Obiano floats loan scheme for affected operators

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has rolled out a loan scheme called-Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA) to cushion effects of the proposed ban on Okada operators.

This was disclosed by the National Coordinator of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe.

He advised Okada union members to heed to the governor’s directive of forming a cooperative society to access business loans, which would enable them start up their businesses and earn a living that would be more lucrative than Okada business.

Obigwe, in a statement, commended Governor Obiano and said the gesture portrayed him as a humane governor who feels the pain of his subjects.

He urged the Okada riders who are interested in going into shuttle bus business to also ensure they utilize the opportunity provided by the governor to enable them own their own shuttle buses.

Obigwe, quoting from the bible said “when the righteous is on the throne; the people rejoice.” He said the biblical quote clearly manifested itself in Anambra State, because Governor Obiano, as a good man, is turning everything in the state for the good of Anambra people.

He said Governor Obiano’s administration is really leading by example in the country and added that as at today, Anambra is among the few viable states in the country, because of the people-oriented style of governance of the ‘wonder working Willie.’
