As Chukwunyere Parish marks CMO Day

Christian fathers have been advised to radiate the fullness of God’s grace into every nook and cranny of the world, particularly where they live and work.

Ezinna Charles Chima Mgbaraho, President, Catholic Men Organization (CMO) Chukwunyere Catholic Parish Mmahu in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, gave the charge in the Address he presented during this year’s Father’s Day celebration on Sunday May 6, 2018.

Ezinna Mgbaraho, who described members of CMO as leaders in their homes, church and larger society said that it was incumbent on them to manifest the expected fruits of the spirit at all times. The fruits are: charity, joy, peace, patience, understanding, kindness and fidelity, gentleness and self control. The hallmark of a good Christian father also includes obedience, humility, thankfulness, diligence, orderliness, prudence, courage, honesty, faith and joy. According to him, for a Christian father, service involves self-giving because a CMO member is called to be the leader of different groups of the faithful entrusted to his care.

He warned that leadership has to do with lifestyle, and explained that it is the ability to inspire others to become and fulfill themselves following the leader’s example by showing and moving into this vision and then living it out.

He condemned the attitude of those members whose stock in trade is to complain against lawful obligations such as payment of dues, levies or who refuse to stay back to  listen to announcements, or always absent at CMO meetings. He called on such people to sit-up. Ezinna Mgbaraho highlighted the setback the organization suffers due to poor attendance of members at CMO meetings, failure to meet financial obligations at stations, parish and Archdiocesan levels and appealed for generous donations to enable the CMO to meet up. The CMO President thanked the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Moses Anuna and his Assistant, Rev. Fr. Justin Alilionu for their cooperation and support as well as the Parish Pastoral Council, and other groups.

The highpoint of the CMO Day celebration was the conferment of honours on 35 Awardees for their roles in the development of the parish. The Deputy Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Chief Kingsley Uju who was represented by the Managing Director of the of Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC). Mr. Nwaketobo, was honoured as the Omeudo I of Chukwunyere Parish and was presented with a walking stick. Mr. Andrew, Ethelbert Ojiaku, was honoured as Omepuruoha of the parish while Mr. Hercules Okoro bagged the title of Ojiegoeme of Chukwunyere Parish.

In his homily at the Mass which he concelebrated with his Assistant, Rev. Fr. Justin Alilionu, the parish priest Rev. Fr. Moses Anuna called on fathers to love their wives as themselves. He advised them to trust in God warning that as the “Idejiulo”, (Pillar of the family), they would face many challenges but will overcome when they rely on God in prayer.
