… As Mater Dolorosa Parish Ihitte honours 7 with Ezinne Award
Rev. Fr. Anthony Chidi Onyenagada, Parish Priest, Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Ihitte, Ihitte Uboma LGA, Imo State, celebrated the Eucharist heralding the bestowment of Ezinne Awards to 7 members of the Catholic Women Organization on Sunday May 27, 2018.
Fr. Onyenagada concelebrated with Rev. Fr. Edwin Njoku (curate) and Monsignor Simon Anyanwu.
Among the distinguished recipients of the Ezinna Awards included: Ezinne Perpetua Onuoha (nee Amah), Ezinne Fidelia Egwuekwe, Ezinne Susan Oluchi Anyanwu, Ezinne Philomena Obi, Ezinne Martha Korie, Ezinne Angelina Ononiwu and Ezinne Josephine Anyanwu.
In his homily, Fr. Anthony Onyenagada expressed profound gratitude to the parishioners, the religious, the members of the planning committee and the Catholic Women Organization led by Mrs. Anthonia Ugwo. He also felicitated with the award recipients and thanked God for clement weather.
Barr. Onyenagada admonished the Ezinne recipients to live life worthy of emulation as role models, respectable mothers. He described motherhood as a unique gift from God without which the world diminishes. He described as misnomer any mother who fails to keep the flame of Christianity, love, charity, morality and decency.
In an address, the President of Mater Dolorosa CWO, Mrs. Anthonia Ugwo observed that the Ezinne merit award is designed to appreciate mothers who worked assiduously and tirelessly towards the spread of evangelism, strengthen families and perform religious duties and obligations both at home, the society and church.
She expressed gratitude to Rev. Fr. Barr. Dr. Anthony Chidi Onyenagada for his dogged passion for the upliftment of their religious life and infrastructural development of the Parish.
Top brass personalities present at the event included: Amb. Richard Nwchukwu, Chief/Sir J.C Ukanyiri (Papa Knight), Mr. Uzoukwu Simon, Chief/Sir Noble Amah (KSJI), Comrade Austin Amajuoyi, Amb. Mrs Ifeoma Ukanyirioha, Lady Maria Amah (LAUX), Chief Ugwunna F. C. Ukanyirioha and Hon. John Onu.
