Plateau Youths Protest Incessant Killings, Shut Down Major Roads

Security operatives in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, in Saturday, struggled to manipulate protesting youths, who blocked roads over killing of their kinsmen by way of unknown gunmen.

There have been said cases of killing of harmless human beings within Arangai and Mangu Halle villages with the trendy on Friday, while two children of a clergy have been killed in cold blood.

Seyitalk reports that the protesters amassed at Mangu Halle village wherein they blocked the new Mangu-Mamaraban Foron- Busa-Buji avenue and Mangu – Barkin-Ladi avenue.

The scenario disrupted traffic waft and affected motorists enroute Jos to Pankshin or Shendam.

The youths, who were chanting “enough of the killings” and “we are uninterested in protection companies’ excuses”, among others, made five barricades along each roads, burning tired tires.

One of them, Mr Dawash, said “Last Sunday a younger guy became killed through the so-called unknown gunmen at Arangai.

“Just yesterday nighttime, youngsters of a person of God have been killed. We are uninterested in the safety situation in Mangu Local Government where our cherished ones are being killed.

The President of Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM), Mr Gayus Dapul, instructed our correspondent that “the protest is to send a message to the stakeholders in Plateau that the youths and the human beings of Mangu are not satisfied with the safety situation in the region.”

“Our human beings are being attacked and killed on every day foundation without just motive; we will’t take a seat down and watch our human beings demise like fowls if the security operatives are failing us.”

Dapul called at the Federal and State Governments to rise to the assignment of giving the humans of Mangu the preferred protection of their lives and assets.

According to him, “We the human beings of Mangu are referred to as peace loving human beings and on every occasion you notice us show in this manner, it means we have been pushed to the wall.”

When contacted, Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Plateau Police Command, ASP Mathias Terna Tyopev, said “We try our great to control the state of affairs in Mangu earlier than it receives out of hand; thank God the teens leaders are cooperating with us to reopen the two roads blocked.
