A thanksgiving Mass was held recently at St. Charles Okwu Ogbaku to celebrate their children who made the 1st to 3rd positions in their schools from nursery to secondary within the state but are parishioners of the parish.
A total of 6 persons got 1st position 5 persons got 2nd position, 2 got 3rd position respectively in nursery section while In primary school, 13 got 1st position, 12 made 2nd position, 11 made 3rd position. In the secondary category, 3 persons got 2nd position.
The Mass was presided over by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Henry Opara and assisted by Fr. Stephen Ugwu.
In his homily, Fr. Stephen reflected on the wisdom of God manifested in Christ Jesus who gave us himself in the Eucharist. He urged all Christians to embrace the gift of Christ the bread of life to enjoy life in abundance.
Continuing, Fr. Ugwu expressed his gratitude to Fr. Henry for his pastoral acumen and initiative in encouraging academic excellence under parish family in these young lads.
The handing of the gifts together with few words of exaltation was anchored by Dr. Jude Opara (H.O.D Early Childhood Education and Care, Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri).
In his response, the Parish Pastoral Council Chairman, Mr. Cajetan Ndukwu on behalf of the entire faithful of the parish expressed his happiness and appreciation to their parish priest for his magnanimity and generosity in initiating such gesture in their parish the first of its kind and promised on behalf of the council and the entire parishioners to assist him to make it an annual event.
