Once again, Holy Family Parish Uratta agog

…As 19 couples take to altar with  blessing of Archbishop

Nineteen couples on Saturday August 25, 2018, were joined in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the Holy Family Catholic Parish Uratta in Owerri North LGA.

The celebration started with a Eucharistic celebration, with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Gerard Onyekwere as the chief celebrant. He was assisted by his Associate Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Theodore Ihenetu and Rev. Fr. Kingsley Emejuru, the parish priest of St. Peter’s Mgbidi in Orlu Diocese and relation of one of the couples.

You will recall that the chief shepherd of Owerri Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Anthony JV Obinna during his pastoral visit to the parish approved the wedding after the couples showed interest to be joined in holy matrimony.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Kingsley Emejuru harped on love, grace, togetherness and endurance as panacea for good companionship. He remarked that before now, the couples have been co-habiting as men and women and committing fornication. But today they are joined as husbands and wives and therefore “Mr.” and “Mrs.” He urged parents of the wedded to give the couples the freedom to go on, they should not unduly interfere or dictate for them, he said.

Those that wedded are Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Ogbonna, Mr. & Mrs. Jerlath Uche, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Uche Nze, Mr. & Mrs. Godwin Chukwuemeka Odu Obi, Mr. & Mrs. Prestige Uche, Mr. & Mrs. Innocent Okechukwu Anyanwu, Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Odu Obi, Mr. & Mrs. Benedict Chima, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Ahamefula Ekeopara, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Uche, Mr. & Mrs. Christian Onyekachi uche, Mr. & Mrs. Sanctus Madu, Mr. & Mrs. Pascal Chiazor Opara, Mr. & Mrs. Valentine Oriaku, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Njere, Mr. & Mrs. Kizito Nwagwu, Mr. & Mrs. Simon Iheohakara, Mr. & Mrs. Christian Uchegbu, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Chisomaga Okeke.

In their response, some of the newly wedded Mr. & Mrs. Christopher and Mr. & Mrs. Pascal Opara thanked the Archbishop for sponsoring their wedding and appealed to the couples who are yet to take the bold step and get the full grace of holy wedlock. They thanked the parish priest, his assistant, the parish catechist, catechizer and other catechists for their dedication to duty during their 12 weeks marriage course. The wedding attracted many parishioners, parents, friends and well wishers of the newly wedded including the Parish Council Chairman, Sir Boniface Ariri and CWO President, Dr. Mrs. Rosemary Uchegbu.
