The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ celebrated a thanksgiving Mass in honour of Diamond (3), Golden (10), and Silver (11) Jubilee of First Religious Profession of 24 of their Sisters on September 16, 2018 at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Felix Job, Bishop Emeritus of Ibadan Archdiocese, Most Rev Martin Uzoukwu of Minna Diocese and a host of other Monsignori and priests officiated at the Mass.
Bishop Martin Uzoukwu of Minna diocese encouraged the Jubilarians at homily to keep on witnessing to God with their ‘Good Works.’ “Your witnesses have been causing increase in vocation in this part of the world”, he added.
Sister Jubilarians presented a pot of flower as their Symbolic gift. According to them, “their daily effort is to continue to guard the treasure and never allow the weakness of the vessel to ruin the content.”
Mother Mary Joseph Ann Anochie, a onetime Vicar General for 12years and Superior General for 12years of the Congregation was one of the Golden Jubilarians. Responding to the reason for her sustenance, smiles and youthful look, Mother Anochie said, “Once I decide to follow God, I do much of what I can and leave every other thing to God’s control.” She appreciated the Congregation at the end of the Mass.
The Sisters are from different Dioceses and Archdioceses of Ahiara, Awka, Enugu, Orlu, Nsukka, Warri, Onitsha and Owerri.
Mr. Primus Odili, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Anambra state with an entourage represented Governor Willie Obiano because two of his aunties – Sr. Maria Dolores Idigo and Sr. Mary Lilian Idigo were among the Golden Jubilarians.
The celebration which started with a Solemn Vespers and a Gala-night the previous evening ended with a reception at the Basilica field. To God be the glory.
