Pope Francis Honours Owerri Archdiocesan Church Warden, Nwosu

A diligent worker is an admiration of others and will duly have a reward from GOD and man. This was the testimony as members of Owerri Catholic Archdiocesan Church Wardens Association, converged at St Peter’s Parish, Egbeada, Mbaitolu LGA to celebrate one of their members, Mr. Winifred Nwosu, who was honoured by Pope Francis recently.

Pope Francis, represented by Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji of Umuahia Diocese at the occasion, had in demonstration of his ‘Apostolic Blessing’ bestowed on Mr. Nwosu the “Nwanne dinamba 1” of St Peter’s Parish, Egbeada in recognition of his immense commitment and dedication to the service GOD and HIS Church as a church warden. Presenting the certification, Bishop Ugorji, congratulated the recipient for the rare recognition, and reminded him on the need to shine the light more brighter, adding GOD is the rewarder of those who sincerely serve HIM.

In his homily, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ejimuofor, expressed joy the award was well deserved as Mr. Nwosu has always carried out his duties in the church exceptionally, urging Christians to always strive to build the House of GOD with their abilities anywhere the reside, adding GOD endows mankind with various gifts to bringing glory to HIS name.

For the recipient who hails from St Michael’s Parish, Urualla, Ideato North LGA, the honour was humbling and unexpected from the Pontifical Seat, saying he has been spurred for more work. He thanked GOD for the privilege, and HIS faithfulness upon his life, promising to dedicate the rest of his life to Divine service. He used the opportunity and appreciated Archbishop AJV Obinna, Fr. Ejimuofor, Fr. Justin Unamma, church wardens in the Archdiocese, and his fellow parishioners for their support and encouragements.

Expressing gratitude to GOD, the president of the association in the Archdiocese, Chief Kelvin Orjiakor, noted the recognition was a manifestation of hard work and dedication in GOD’s vineyard. According to him, it was an honour for all their members who defile odds towards maintaining order in GOD’s House, as he appreciated Mr. Nwosu for making the association proud, praying for GOD’s blessings upon their members. While St Peter’s Parish leader if the group, Lolo Bernadine Anumgama, averred GOD has decorated Mr. Nwosu for his exemplary humility and service, and expressed joy it took place under her leadership.
Others contributed enthusiastically. One of them, the Archdiocesan vice-president and zone 4 leader, Bro. Fab Duru, said the honour should be emulated, adding that: “GOD looks at the heart,” while Assistant Secretary, Mr. Victor Nwaopara, flanked by the treasurer, Bro. Ifeanyichukwu Ibe, said the recipient is a pride to the association.

The occasion witnessed relatives, friends and colleagues of Mr. Nwosu celebrating with him.
