The former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro has commended the Catholic Men Organization, CMO, Maria Assumpta Cathedral Parish Owerri for embarking on a befitting building project in honour of their patron saint – St. Joseph.
Speaking at the maiden fund-raising for the construction of “St. Joseph Hall of Faith,” a project of Assumpta CMO, Sir Okiro said it was befitting to honour St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus Christ and no amount donated for God’s work is considered too much.
The former Police IG who was the chairman of the occasion solicited support to enable CMO complete the building project in no distant time.
Sir Okiro then raised a popular song: “All I have is given to me by God…” to ginger guests to donate generously to the project.
In his welcome address, the President CMO, Assumpta Parish, Arc. Emeka Ozoude, said it was the dream of the organization to have a befitting building that will provide them with meeting rooms and offices, hall of various sizes for various programmes etc, adding that “St. Joseph Hall of Faith when completed will be a very beautiful architectural edifice that will rank next to the Cathedral building when compared with all the other buildings within the Cathedral premises.” He said the estimated total cost of the project is N170 million, including landscaping, furnishing and flood control.
The fund-raising, put together by a committee led by Chief Athan Ogoh, commenced with prayer said by Archbishop Anthony Obinna. It was attended by Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, Chief Tony Chukwu, members of Assumpta Parish Pastoral Council etc.
The St. Joseph Hall of Faith foundation was laid by Archbishop Obinna on August 14, 2016 under the former parish CMO executive led by Prof. Dan Dan Ekezie KSM.
