The Cameroonians also secured a berth at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France following the win.
Finalists, the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the other teams that will represent the continent at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Cameroon dominated the opening exchanges in the game and were rewarded for their efforts when Ninon Abena opened scoring for them two minutes after the half hour mark.
Abena doubled Cameroon’s lead five minutes before the break as the Malians struggled to cope with the pace of their opponent.
The Malians however fought back to restore parity in the highly entertaining encounter.
Fatoumata Diarra reduced the deficit four minutes before the break, while Aurelle Awona conceded an own goal in the 57th minute.
Cameroon however recovered from the setback with further goals from Gabrielle Onguene and Christine Manie in the 62nd and 92nd minutes respectively.
