Information Commissioner (former) drums support for Gov. Okorocha


Former Honorable Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Public Utilities, Engr. Obinna Nsirim, before his dissolution by the Rochas Okorocha recently, held a media parley with journalists in the state at the new conference centre built by the State Government for his ministry.

Flanked by Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Uwandu, the Permanent Secretary, and Chief Innocent Igwe, NUJ Chairman, he expressed profound gratitude to the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for facilitating the construction and enhancement of the new conference centre.

He said that the Governor has fulfilled his campaign promises and has also brought Governance to the grassroots through the institution of Community Government Council and State Development Councils which brought government nearer to the grass-roots.

Hon. Nsirim also said that the free education at all levels provided by the State Government removed burden of educating the teeming population from the parents who have heaved a sigh of relief. According to him “for the first time in Imo State, all accruable monies from the Federation accounts are being judiciously used for the overall development of the state.”

He said that huge sums of money looted by politicians and which are now being discovered would have been used for the development of infrastructure and over all welfare of all Nigerians.

Asked to comment on whether the state is truly liberated when judicial pronouncements and rule of law is being trampled upon; he answered that corruption has permeated all the facets of Governance, and has constituted a clog in the wheel of justice and progress.

He praised the State Government for opening an avenue of redress where aggrieved persons can petition and ventilate their grievances so that remedies and amends could be made.

Hon. Nsirim enjoined Imolites to join hands with the State Government, as the governor has great passion to improve the living conditions of the people of the state.
