The Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC), an organ of the Catholic Church that relates with the Society in almost all spheres of influence, medical outreaches being one, recently, attracted the 2018 Orange Group for 4 days free Medical checkup and treatment to Imo State.

The Group, with the consent and approval of JDPC, conducted the eye, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, free of charge. In an interactive session with the Executive Editor of Sunrise Nigeria, the Human resources manager, Lady Dorothy Chukwuma, said the gesture, is a payback of God’s blessings by the owner of Orange drug to the society, for her patronages.

She said the 2018 Orange Group Christmas Medical Mission was staggered into four days of medical outreach and climaxed it with a visit to the orphanage on Friday 21st December, 2018. The medical outreach activities commenced on Monday, 17th December and ended on Thursday, 20th December, 2018.

For two days (17th – 18th) the Group was at Assumpta Cathedral, Control Post, Owerri, based on the turn out of the patients who were treated accordingly. On the preceded Wednesday, 19th December, the Medical outreach was at St. Patrick’s Parish, Mission Clinic, Mbutuokohia. On Thursday, Akokwa High School, Owerre-Akokwa, the outreach personnel stormed for rock-solid seven hours with the patients.

Friday, 21st December, the Group visited the orphanage at the Nigeria Red Cross Motherless Babies Home, Sam Mbakwe Road, Owerri. Speaking further, Lady Chukwuma, the Human Resources Manager, who refused to imagine the amount of money invested in such outreaches, prays the Medical outreach continues as to take healthcare delivery services to the poorest of the poor every year.

She lauded His Grace, Archbishop Anthony J.V Obinna, the Archbishop of the metropolitan See of Owerri, for his goodness in causing JDPC to partner with them. Equally, she was full of gratitude to the Director of JDPC, Rev. Fr. Dr. Gerald Chukwudi Njoku for providing the Group with an enabling environment.

On the part of Rev. Fr. Dr. Gerald Njoku, he appreciated the innovative spirit of the Archbishop. As well, he gave kudos to his committee members, who have been recording tremendous success in their respective stations. He wishes the Orange Group well for catalyzing the need for merit with a vast of performance.

Refraining from basking in the adulation of self, he said “JDPC is charged with the responsibility to apply value of the Gospel to the problems of the Society and also implement and realize social justice, human development and sustainable peace in the Society”.

On a plus side, he wishes all, blue Christmas.
