Owerri Archdiocesan CWO Officers assume duty


…Commend Archbishop Obinna on Odenigbo

Mrs. Stella AcholonuThe new officers of the Owerri Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women Organization (OACCWO) have assumed duties.

The new executive was inaugurated recently by the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Anthony J.V. Obinna.

The executive is led by Mrs. Stella Acholonu as President, Lady (Dr.) Ifeyinwa Felicity Okoro as Secretary and Mrs. Mercy Iwe as Treasurer.  The above officers were appointed directly by the Archbishop.

Those elected by the council include: Lady Nene Ugorji (Vice-President), Mrs. Maureen Mgbeahurike (Assistant Secretary), Mrs. Ewuzie Gloria (Financial Secretary) and Mrs. Ifeoma Dureke (Assistant Financial Secretary).

Barr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Iwu and Lady Anthonia Ebuzor were elected Public Relations Officers I & II respectively while Mrs. Rita N. Opara, Lady Stella Anyaehie and Mrs. Agnes Anozie clinched the post of Provost I, Provost II and Provost III respectively.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Chaplain of OACCWO, Rev. Fr. Dr. Cyril Akalonu, who represented Archbishop Obinna and the Sister Adviser to the Council, Rev. Sr. Theophane Nwolisa urged the new executive to be dedicated in their duties and prudent in the management of the council’s affairs.

In her acceptance speech, the new OACCWO President, Mrs. Stella Acholonu thanked Archbishop Obinna for finding them worthy to serve the council.  She prayed God to grant her executive the required knowledge, wisdom and strength to effectively execute all the activities of her administration.

The new executive took over from the former executive led by Lady Mercy Anoma as President and Barr. Lady Naomi Achunulo as Secretary.

Speaking at the occasion, Lady Anoma thanked God for His guidance and protection to her executive and wished the new regime success.

Meanwhile, the new executive of OACCWO has expressed satisfaction with the progress and achievements of Odenigbo lecture series.

In a press release issued in Owerri on Tuesday, August 20, the Council commended the Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, founder of the lecture series, stressing that the Odenigbo has helped tremendously in promoting Igbo language.

The release signed by the President, Lady Stella Acholonu (LSM) and the Secretary, Lady (Dr.) Felicity Okoro (KSJI) congratulated this year’s lecturer, Prof. Pita Ejiofo and wished him a successful outing.
