The Catholic Bishop of Aba Diocese, Most Rev. V.V. Ezeonyia has called on Christians to use this Lenten period to fast from noise, television and other forms of entertainment. In his 2014 Lenten Message, titled: “Yearly Attitude Adjustment”, the Bishop said” “Lent is a time for our Yearly Attitude Adjustment.  For this, God gives us the spiritual tools of almsgiving, prayer and fasting for bringing cold embers back to life”. The Catholic Diocese of Aba has rounded off activities marking this year’s Education Week.  It is the 9th in the series.  The theme for this year was “Catholic Education and Sports”.  The climax of the event took place on February 24 at Christ the King School field.  Rex Aba, the Diocesan newspaper said it was well attended by some priests, parents, teachers and students from Catholic schools in the diocese. It was bumper harvest, Saturday, July 13 at SS Peter and Paul Parish, Mbutu Ngwa in Isiala Ngwa South LGA in Abia State as His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Fortunatus Nwchukwu, Titular Archbishop of Aquaviva and Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaagua, ordained 18 deacons as priests. The new priests are for the Catholic Diocese of Aba and Christ the Emmanuel Congregation.
