Catholic Health Services of Imo State has once again appealed to the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to approve subvention to Catholic Hospitals in the state. This is contained in their submission to the 2nd Imo State Council on Health Meeting held July 9-12 at the Imo Concorde Hotel Owerri. The State Council on Health meeting is convened to bring together all stakeholders to assess the situation in the health sector, identify areas of priority and proffer solutions. Police discover gun depot in Mbaitoli

In another development, the Imo State Police Command has uncovered a gun depot at Idume-Ogwa in Mbaitoli LGA with at least 13 brand new AK47 rifles. Also recovered from the depot are pump action guns, double barrel guns, assorted rifle parts, 750 live cartridges, one carton of security torchlight, rifle accessories and vehicles. State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina told journalists on Wednesday that the bullet proof jacket with the inscription, “Nigeria Police” was also recovered by the reconstituted illegal arms mopping squad. Okorocha’s Administration and the Zenith Bank Loan Scandal

Not too long ago, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) wrote a petition to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) accusing Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his team of taking an unauthorized loan that runs into many billions of naira from Zenith Bank using the monthly allocations for the 27 local government councils in the state as collateral for the loan. The Imo State Community Government Council (CGC) has begun payment of pensions in the 637 communities in the state. The Commissioner for Community Government Council and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. (Lady) Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro disclosed this while interacting with the press in Owerri on Monday. She said that cheques were being distributed to the pensioners in their various kindreds.
