Need for Public Conveniences
It is common everyday and everywhere to hear and read such expressions as: “Health is wealth”, “healthy mind only found in healthy body”, “clean surroundings enhance good health” and “cleanliness is next to Godliness”. There is practically nobody who does not believe these maxims to be true. Governments at all levels chorus them in the mass media too. That is why inscriptions and warnings are found in public places that read: “Don’t urinate here”, “Don’t defecate there” or “drop your refuse in the bins provided”. It is commendable that individuals and corporate bodies detest their premises being littered with wastes and so provide waste bins of various sizes. But practically nothing has been done to…
Structure without Sanity in Owerri
Please permit me a space in your widely read newspaper to register my feelings with regard to the pressing issue of sanity in Owerri metropolis, the capital city of Imo State. I must first appreciate the obvious efforts of our indefatigable governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to transform Imo state far beyond what it was before his inception in May, 2011. The problem of traffic in Owerri has been remarkably dealt with as he has opened up alternative routs to fast track movements in the city. Our governor has created numerous roads within the city as by-pass from the crazy traffic jam that held Imolites to ransom a few months back. He has also given the…
THE TEN ‘I’s THAT BREAK THE HOME (3) – CAUSES OF INFIDELITY

Disaffection: Affection is major oil in marriage. It is more than sexual satisfaction. It is the feeling of being appreciated by one’s partner. Ironically, women value love in their relationship than sex. Unfortunately however, many men do not realize it. Blessed Pope John Paul 11 once said in his address to couples that a man loves in order to be loved while a woman is loved in order to love. In marriage, every woman wants to feel special. Every woman wants the husband to tell her, “You are beautiful”, “You look good”, “I love you”, “Your hairstyle is special”, “Your food is wow”, etc. Every woman wants a pet name. But these words of admiration…
Restoring Pipe-Borne water in our cities
It is generally believed that the four most basic needs of man are: air, water, food, and shelter, in that order. That water ranks second in man’s hierarchy of needs speaks volumes about its indispensability to life. Perhaps this explains why the creator of the universe made water to comprise three quarters of the entire surface of the earth in the form of seas, rivers and lakes. Man needs water to drink, wash and clean up his surroundings, while plants need water to sustain their life. This informed the reason why politicians seeking the people’s mandate always, include potable water in the list of Democracy Dividends they dangle before the electorate. It is on this…
Politics And Public Service: The Most Lucrative Business Enterprises In Nigeria Today (1)

Politics is a witty stratagem and artifice that are being exercised to establish a human and material platform for the institutionalization of a stable and progressive state with the full credence and tenet of the entrenchment of democracy and enactment of good governance. Dr Sam Madugba – “I won’t compromise my integrity”
There will be no breeding place for mosquitoes in Owerri, if Dr Samuel Iheanacho Madugba has his way. He will rid the town of litter, drain the gutters and ensure adequate refuse collection. Dr Sam will create temporary dumps on Douglas road and Ekeonunwa, even if it means knocking down a few buildings. Monthly clean ups will be compulsory, continuous and regulated. People won’t wait for a week, month or even a year to have the garbage removed from streets. But that’s not all. The goodly doctor will take the cleanup campaign to schools also. He will ensure children are studying in clean classrooms and healthy environment. This will go hand-in-hand with a reintroduction of…
