Archbishop Obinna commends LSM – For empowering 500 widows, building Women Development Centre Owerri
The Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri has commended Ladies of St. Mulumba, Nigeria for putting smiles on the faces of 500 poor widows. Archbishop Obinna made the commendation when he visited the Women Development Centre, New Owerri, a project of LSM, Nigeria. The prelate said he was happy that the Ladies were considering the plight of the less privileged in society and commended them for the material donations and empowerment. Editor’s Note: The Imo State of Nigeria Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law No. 12, 2012, (a.k.a. Abortion Law) has continued to attract condemnations by the people of the state, who consider Section 40(1) of the Law as obnoxious. Ladies of St. Mulumba pay hospital bills for 5 stranded patients
Ladies of St. Mulumba, Assumpta Sub-Council Owerri, have paid the hospital bills of five patients treated by the Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku. The occasion was the 2013 charity visit to the hospital by the ladies during which they also presented various gift items for distribution to patients. The patients whose hospital bills were cleared were those who had recovered their health but could not be discharged because they and their relatives could not afford to pay their bills. The Ladies of St. Mulumba, Assumpta Sub-Council spent a total of N103,050 (one hundred and three thousand, fifty Naira) to clear the bills. With this development, the beneficiaries would now be discharged to return to their families….
