St. Maria Goretti Catholic Parish Ikenegbu, Owerri paid host to men and women of goodwill who were seen radiating with joy and happiness when eight couples were joined together in the sacrament of holy matrimony, Saturday October 1. The couples – Mr./Mrs. Henry Ofoegbu, Raphael Nganya, Charles Oguguo, Cosmas Chiwueze  and Athanasius Njoku. Others are Mr./Mrs John Nwafor, Anthony Anyagwu, and Isaac Igwe. The St. Paul’s sub-council of knights of St. Mulumba held their 2016 annual retreat from 26th to 28th August 2016 at the Claretian Renewal Centre Nekede Owerri. Welcoming members of the sub-council to the retreat, the Worthy Grand Knight, Bro Eva Njemanze, reminded members that retreat could be likened to combatant soldiers who, after fighting a battle withdrew to a place of safety to re-access their achievements, progress and problems in order to re-strategize for the battle ahead.   Imo State Police Command has arrested a three-man gang that gruesomely murdered 24-year-old final year civil engineering student of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Innocent Ndukwe. Imo Govt pays compensation to Naze/Egbu Landlords


The Imo State Government says it will not renege in its resolve to ensure prompt payment of compensation to Land Owners whose Land was acquired for development purposes. The Chief Executive of Hardel and Enic Group of Companies, and frontline politician in Imo State, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has denied the allegation making the rounds in the State that he abandoned construction work on Orji-Egbu-Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze road. Strike: FG ignores Poly lecturers – As strike enters second month


The Federal Government has ignored the strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria eight weeks ago. Since the strike action, which paralysed academic activities in all the Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria, the Federal Government appeared insensitive both to the plight of the lecturers and that of the students. The union which issued a 21-day ultimatum on March 25, is asking the Federal Government to look into many of its demands.
