St Peter’s Egbeada Celebrates Feast Of Patron Saint
It was indeed all joy at St Peter’s parish Egbeada, Imo state, Sunday 30th June 2013. The event began with a holy mass officiated by Very Rev Dr. Innocent Osuagwu assisted by Rev Fr. Innocent Orji Parish Priest and Rev Fr. Aloysius Iwuanoruo. Fr. Innocent Orji in his introduction thanked God for the gift of life, his blessings and also making it possible for the day to come to fulfillment.
Delivering the homily, Very Rev Dr. Innocent M. Osuagwu expressed how happy he was being with the parishioners.
He began by letting the people know that Jesus Christ calls us to serve him through our fellow human beings. He said that all the servants of God are called by God to serve him. He made it known to the parishioners that they are being called through the sacraments they receive such as baptism, confirmation, matrimony e.t.c, emphasizing that for every real and genuine vocation, the person must be called, for example that a lawyer cannot practice unless he has been called to bar. He discouraged all those who fake their vocations because nobody takes the honour upon himself. He urged them to leave everything and follow Christ like the disciples did.
The Homilist made them know that every call is to serve God. He explained that Christ himself was called by his father to save mankind
He admonished the people to accept their call in good faith and serve God with every opportunity they have. They should abandon their evil ways and try to achieve something great with their call, Fr. Maduakolam maintained.
Fr Osuagwu advised the parishioners to always follow the footsteps of Peter who is also known as Okwute whom God handed the keys of the gate of heaven and who also was the head of the disciples. Peter he said, was also fisher of men through the good life style and behaviour he portrayed as the leader. Fr Osuagwu ended his homily by encouraging the people to work hard in the vine yard of God.
As awards were presented to fisher of men and also people were called upon to cut the cake of prosperity and Wisdom. Equally, awards were also presented to parish mothers and fathers.
The Parish council chairman, Dr Justin Akalonu thanked God for a successful celebration and asked him to bless and protect all those who in one way or the other aided in the success of the feast.
The Parish priest thanked the chief celebrant Very Rev. Fr Innocent Osuagwu who accepted to celebrate with them and Fr Aloysius Iwuanoruo who also worshipped with them. He thanked immensely the committee and the parish council Chairman for their endeavour in seeing that the ceremony was a success. He thanked all who honoured the invitations and prayed God to bless them.
Rev. Fr Aloysius Iwuanoruo expressed his profound gratitude towards the parishioners and encouraged them to continue in their good works in the church.
