Ladies of St. Mulumba, Assumpta Sub-Council Owerri, have paid the hospital bills of five patients treated by the Holy Rosary Hospital Emekuku.

The occasion was the 2013 charity visit to the hospital by the ladies during which they also presented various gift items for distribution to patients.

The patients whose hospital bills were cleared were those who had recovered their health but could not be discharged because they and their relatives could not afford to pay their bills.

The Ladies of St. Mulumba, Assumpta Sub-Council spent a total of N103,050 (one hundred and three thousand, fifty Naira) to clear the bills.  With this development, the beneficiaries would now be discharged to return to their families.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Sub-Council, Lady R.C. Ohiri thanked the staff and hospital authorities for granting their request to visit the patients and wished them speedy recovery.

Lady Angela Ukairo, the Adviser of the Ladies of St. Mulumba, charged the patients to be prayerful and exercise faith in God.

The beneficiaries who were found in the maternity, children and male wards could not believe their eyes and some shaded tears of joy that they could now be discharged to go home.  Each of the patients and their relations expressed immense gratitude to their benefactors, praying God to repay them a countless fold.

The Staff Nurse on duty Nwanyanwu Joychrist who received the Ladies of St. Mulumba on behalf of the Director of the hospital,  thanked the Ladies for their love and generosity and prayed God to bless them abundantly.

The gift items meant for distribution to the patients of the hospital include: disinfectants, toiletries, washing soap and tissue papers.

It would be recalled that the Ladies of St. Mulumba, Assumpta Sub-Council paid a similar visit to the Federal Prisons last year where 1,773 inmates were fed with cooked rice and presented gift items.
