Paul Nwogu donates borehole to his community

Bro. Paul Nwogu addressing the audience at the event.

A three-tap water borehole has been donated to the people of Umuoheri, Chukwuoma Okpofe in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA by the personal exertion of their son in the Imo State Government Service, Bro. Paul O. Nwogu Esq., JP.

Commissioning the water project on Thursday, December 12, 2013, Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Kaodi Anamekwe thanked the donor, Mr. Nwogu for propagating the tenets and mantra of the rescue mission administration to his people.  He charged others to emulate him while praying God to reward him.

In his remarks, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Diala said that charity is infectious, “with this donation, others will soon key into the lofty idea of serving their people free of charge”.

Others who spoke at the ceremony were of the same view and attested to the charitable disposition of the donor since childhood.

In an interview, the donor, Bro. Paul Nwogu  expressed gratitude to God for seeing him through the  project.  He thanked those who made the event a success.  He said that his act of love and altruism was borne out of his passion to alleviate the sufferings of his community, ‘since there is no nearby stream and people trek long distances in search of water.  “I dreamt of this project and God in his infinite mercies gave me the resources to execute it”.  He stated that the borehole has been certified fit by the relevant agencies.

It would be recalled that ever since the donor sank his borehole in April 2008 at his residence in Owerri, he has been dispensing water free of charge to members of the World Bank Area where he resides.  This influenced a few other residents in the area to follow his footsteps thus making the people to have access to water in the area with much reduced difficulty.

Dignitaries at the ceremony were the Parish Priest of CKC Okpofe, Rev. Fr. Humphrey Agbim, the Director-General, Imo Orientation Agency, Chief Ford Ozumba and wife, Staff of Imo House of Assembly, Engr. J.C. Nwogu (KSM, JP), elder brother to the donor, the DPO of Ezinihitte LGA, Mr. Gregory Onu and the Director of Administration and General Services of Ezinihitte LGA, Mr. Ugbaja.
